Forestry Club

Forestry club of MES College works in association with  The  Forestry Department of Ernakulam Social Forestry Division. Forestry club was started  in MES College on September 16th, 2022. The main aim of the club is to maintain a deep lasting connection with nature and to improve emotional and mental health, social and physical skills among students .The club promotes variety of outdoor adventures , interaction among students, independence, self esteem , problem solving skills and to inculcate many valuable skills. Club encourages intercollegiate events, volunteer work and field trips.

OBJECTIVES

  • Education and Awareness: Organizing workshops, seminars, and educational events to raise awareness about the importance of forests, biodiversity, and environmental conservation among students and the wider community.

  • Outdoor Adventures: Planning and leading outdoor activities such as hiking trips, camping excursions, and nature walks to explore and appreciate forests and natural ecosystems.

  • Conservation Projects: Undertaking hands-on conservation projects such as tree planting, habitat restoration, and wildlife monitoring to contribute to the preservation and restoration of local forests and ecosystems.

  • Advocacy and Outreach: Advocating for policies and practices that promote forest conservation, sustainable land management, and environmental protection through campaigns, petitions, and advocacy efforts.

  • Research and Study: Supporting research initiatives and academic projects related to forestry, ecology, and environmental science, providing opportunities for students to gain practical experience and contribute to scientific knowledge

  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities, government agencies, and environmental organizations to address environmental issues, promote sustainable practices, and foster a sense of environmental stewardship

  • Forest clubs in college settings can serve as platforms for students with a shared interest in forests and environmental issues to connect, learn, and take action to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
