APJ Abdul Kalam Research, Innovation and Technology Chair
APJ Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist before being elected as the eleventh president of India. Born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, he studied physics and aerospace engineering. He was intimately involved in India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts. Being the spearhead behind India’s rise to the top rank in missile, space, and nuclear segments, he is an apt choice as the icon of technological innovations in India. He also took great pride in interacting with students and young minds across the country and believed that they are the torchbearers who will lead nation into the future.
To innovate is to expand our thinking and come up with new ideas that allow us to do our job in a different way. Innovation involves three major steps: an idea, its implementation, and the result of the execution, which produces a change. By enabling students to use a higher level of thinking to solve complex problems, innovative thinking improves education and contributes into national development.
In respect of the great visionary, MES College Marampally established the APJ Abdul Kalam Research, Innovation and Technology Chair to recognize, encourage and support innovative research by students. The goal is to achieve excellence in innovation and technology development. For any innovation to have a significant transformative effect, it must be widely disseminated and implemented. Through research, exploration, and the use of all the available tools, it is innovation in education that encourages students and teachers to learn and discover new things.
Objectives:
- To inculcate Start-up culture and to establish an Incubation Centre in the college.
- In order to foster innovative ideas among the student community
- To provide incentives for students to present projects of original thought
- To promote knowledge-driven and technology-based ventures among students, faculty, and alumni.
- To encourage the students to participate in the project exhibitions being organized elsewhere in the country.
