Department Of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2020, with an aided programme in Integrated chemistry. The course was started as one of the new generation courses announced in connection with Chief minister’s 100 day action programme. The department offers different elective courses along with core courses in the field of chemistry including Forensic science, Polymer chemistry, Nanochemistry and Pharmaceutical chemistry. It has also been instrumental in developing and imparting various add on programmes on scientific waste management, water quality analysis, importance of sustainable materials bioplastic etc. which are of social and environmental relevance in the current age.
The department laboratory which was inaugurated in the year 2022 boasts of cutting edge equipments which aid the experiential learning of students. The department also hosts webinars, invited talks, seminars, quizzes, workshops and conducts industry visits to broaden the horizons of students and faculty members. The department also has a ‘Meet the entrepreneur’ program to facilitate one-on-one interaction with eminent scientists and entrepreneurs. With a team of experienced faculty, the department hopes to nurture budding talents and inspire them to pursue research and careers in industry.
